2019 Honda Crosstour Release date, Price, Redesign

Honda Crosstour debuted in 2009 as a full-size crossover SUV and it was being manufactured until 2015. The reason for production discontinuation was the incredibly low sales. It reached the top in 2010 with almost 29,000 units sold. However, the sales were dropping since then and it hit the bottom last year with only 9,000 units sold. Despite elegant exterior and numerous safety features, the market just didn’t want it. It is really difficult to tell what the reason was for such result and it takes further analysis. However, some rumors appeared that the Japanese automaker might revive this model and release it as the 2019 Honda Crosstour. Even though nobody knows if this is going to come true or not, there are some speculations how it might look like.

HONDA CROSSTOUR REVIEW

First of all, have in mind that this vehicle hasn’t been confirmed thus don’t take this article to the bank. The 2019 model should be a combination of a coupe and sports utility vehicle. The first model was released under the name of Accord Crosstour so it is obvious it resembles Accord in many aspects. The performance of the first generation was decent, but since it failed to become one of the market’s favorites. This means Honda had to come up with a new plan and significantly redesign the Crosstour.

ENGINE LINEUP

The previous models were equipped with a 3.5-liter six-cylinder designed by Honda. However, this engine is going to be abandoned and the 2019 Honda Crosstour will have other options if released. According to experts, there are going to be at least two different engines which will be more horsepower and torque than its predecessor. The base engine may be a 2.4l i-VTEC four-cylinder while the second option might be a 3.5l i-VTEC inline-6. These two will be coupled with different transmissions. The 2.4l is going to have a 6-speed transmission, while the second one will be mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Both of these engines are going to have either FWD or AWD.

When it comes to fuel economy there is no reliable information. The 3.5-liter V6 that was used under the hood of the 2015 model had an EPA rating standing at 20/30/23 mpg for FWD and 19/28/22 mpg for AWD. With these figures, it could be considered as a fuel-efficient vehicle. New engines should be at least as effective as these the 3.5-liter but we hope they will be even better. With better figures, new Crosstour would have a huge advantage over other cars in this class.

2019 HONDA CROSSTOUR REDESIGN

The 2019 Honda Crosstour is not one of those muscular and aggressive cars. It will look rather elegant with several modifications and improvements. Front bumper is expected to be wider while the grill should remain the same as before. Besides this modification, the new model is supposed to get new 18-inch alloy wheels which will contribute to the elegance. More modifications are expected, especially when it comes to headlights and taillights, but we cannot tell exactly how they are going to look like.
