2017 Dodge Charger Daytona Release date and Price

Dodge launched the seventh generation of Charger six years ago, or as many like to say the second generation of the modern Charger. It had been announced that new generation would be redesigned, but that didn’t happen, well at least on the surface. Platform remained unchanged and new generation share lots of features with the previous one. However, the biggest modification was under the hood, the new model got new engine lineup. The SRT Hellcat got one of the most powerful engines ever built with an ability to produce 707 hp. New models also pay tribute to the old two-door Chargers and one of them is going to be the 2017 Dodge Charger Daytona.

2017 Dodge Charger Daytona Review

Daytona was the name of the modified coupe designed for NASCAR in 1969. The nameplate returned several times. It was being manufactured between 2006 and 2009, and it returned four years later. The upcoming model will be the second Daytona in the seventh generation. If you are looking for a four-door vehicle, with a big trunk and five placed this is the car for you. It has a sporty appearance and has several one-of-a-kind interior features. Some people claim the 2017 model is not as impressive as the original, but we bet they didn’t read any review about it.

Powertrain

The 2017 Dodge Charger Daytona won’t get the top engine since the 707-hp engine is reserved for the SRT Hellcat. However, it won’t have a lack of power for sure. According to the latest press release, new Daytona is getting a 6.4-liter eight-cylinder HEMI which will surely deliver the goods. It is equipped with new air box which has directed cold-air induction. In addition, Mopar conical air filter is used as well as 3.09 final drive with 230 mm limited slip rear axle.
Thanks to all these improvements the 6.4-liter can generate 485 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque. To tell you the truth, this is not the most powerful engine manufactured by the American automaker, but you hardly need more power than that. Top speed is estimated at 150 mph while the 0-60 time is 4.8 seconds. It will blow your mind! The transmission system is also expected to be improved, but we don’t have exact details about it at this point.

Interior and Exterior Design

The 2017 Dodge Charger Daytona looks like a combination of the SRT and R/T Scat Pack. It borrowed numerous features from these two models. However, it also has plenty of unique characteristics that are clearly different than other Charger trims. Several retro designs are available and the most popular among them are Green Go and Yellowjacket. Satin Black spoiler is placed at the back and there is an exhaust pipe on each side.
Interior is amazingly designed and Nappa leather seats are our favorite part of the car. Brazen Gold accent and Brazen Gold contrast stitching can be seen all over the interior, on seats, door panels, center console armrests, door panel armrests, etc. The cabin is also equipped with LED lights which provide the unique atmosphere. A driver’s seat is optional while the front seats are heated.

Release Date and Price

If you are reading this article in November 2016 or later, you probably already know new 2017 Dodge Charger Daytona has already hit the market. Officials at Dodge said it was going to be released in October 2016. MSRP of the regular Charger is $36,695 and Daytona is going to cost just few thousand dollars more. If you are thinking of buying it as soon as it is launched, you will need to spend $40,000. Some of few would probably satisfy with regular Charger, but why not to try this trim?
