The Alfieri has been first showcased nearly two years ago. The car was a small 2+2 coupe based on the same platform as the Ghibli. When it was showcased, the Alfieri was expected to be launched on the market this year. However, this didn’t happen because Maserati decided to push back the release of the production model all the way back into 2024. Why? Well, the Chinese market is currently not as strong as it used to be a Maserati thinks a new model would not make much sense for now. However, despite that, it seems that another concept for the car might be released with the 2017 Maserati Alfieri. This would basically be the production-ready model of the car showcased to the general public to get some last minute feedback.
Price
The Maserati Alfieri 2017 is actually going to be smaller and less expensive than the GranTurismo. Early rumors suggested a base price of around $100,000 which would make a lot of sense. Right around the same amount of money cars like the AMG GT or the Jaguar F-Type can be had which are both in the same ballpark in terms of performance.
What will change the concept?
Well, the car released back in 2014 is actually quite close to the production-ready 2017 Maserati Alfieri. For starters, the two will share the exact same front end, a really similar set of proportions and likely the already iconic tailgate. The wheels, color palette and some of the design notes from the back, on the other hand, are expected to be all new. Also, the concept had a 4.7 liter naturally aspirated Ferrari V8 which is not going to be offered on the production model.
Engine of Maserati Alfieri 2017
The Alfieri will hit the market with three different engines with a couple more being expected in the future. The car released for the 2024 model year will receive three 3 liter twin-turbocharged V6 engines. These will provide 410 and 450 horsepower in the base two trim levels. The first one will be rear wheel drive while the latter all wheel drive. Both of them are going to use a ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic. A 520 horsepower V6 engine is also a real possibility.
Some rumors suggested a larger than 3 liter unit with variable turbochargers. This would become the top end model until it will get replaced in 2024 by a 3.8 liter V8 with as much as 560 horsepower. A hybrid is also expected to be offered with the Alfieri shortly after release while a fully electric model is also a real possibility. If the car will actually go through the production stage we actually expect it with just a 3 liter V6 engine. In this case, it would be powerful enough to compete with the AMG GT and low enough on power to not threaten the GranTurismo.
2017 Maserati Alfieri Interior and Exterior Design
The exterior look of the 2017 Maserati Alfieri is going to be, without a doubt, nearly identical to the concept car. There will be only minimal differences between them which also makes sense considering the concept was already quite close to production.
The interior of the car will feature four seats. However, due to the 2+2 configuration, the seats in the back will be there mostly as luggage shelves and nothing more. The overall equipment level and the materials used here are going to be nearly identical to those found in the Ghibli. It still is unclear if Maserati will go for a unique design with the dashboard of the Alfieri. Most rumors suggest so but they haven’t actually confirmed anything. No matter what the case will be, we are pretty sure that the end result will be as good as the competition or better!
