2018 Tesla Model 3 Specs

Ever since Tesla released the Model S many people were left wondering if such a car would ever be released at a lower price. Well, the time has come because not that long ago the all new 2018 Tesla Model 3 has been launched, a car which managed to make a lot more people interested in it than any other car ever released. This is really interesting because it shows that people are willing to move to alternative ways of powering a car and the Model 3 offers just that with an official range of up to 215 miles, a lot more than any other car at its price point.

TESLA MODEL 3 CHANGES

Also, it is good to know that the car showcased as the 2018 Tesla Model 3 is nothing more than just a work in progress meaning that the end result will likely change. This is not that bad though because it means we are going to receive a better looking, and likely better built, car at the same price as it was advertised which is really impressive.

Tesla managed to set the price as low as $35,000 thanks to the fact they are building an entirely new factory which will develop and build everything from the really compact and efficient electric motors all the way up to the large battery pack.

BATTERY AND RANGE

There aren’t that many details about what will actually power the upcoming Model 3 but it seems that the car will likely feature a similar battery pack to that fitted to the ongoing Model S, just smaller.

On top of that, its engine will not make 500 horsepower but closer to 260 to 300 horsepower and around 400 lb-ft of torque, enough to make the sedan go from 0 to 60 MPH in under 6 seconds and hit a limited top speed of 120 MPH, better than pretty much any of its direct competitors. Per charge Tesla 3 can cover 215 miles. We are sure that in the future the car will receive larger battery packs and even more powerful engines but for starters it will come in a single configuration. The good part is that the Super-Charger network will be offered on the entry level model and so is going to be the great Autopilot feature which will allow the Model 3 to run by itself on clearly marked roads.

EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR

The car’s design is pretty much done and while it may no appeal to everyone, it is a really clean design which certainly has its flair. The lines are really nice for a car at this price point and the fact it doesn’t look like any other car out there makes it really impressive.

Unfortunately the cabin of the 2018 Tesla Model 3 is not done just yet and what Tesla showcased is just a work in progress. The production model will likely inherit a lot from the Model S both in terms of design and features but it will come with entry level materials and with less optional extras.

2018 TESLA MODEL 3 PRICE AND RELEASE DATE

In fact, the Model 3 will hit the market for around $35,000 before any government refunds meaning that it basically is a $25,000 car that offers the range and most of the technology available on the much more expensive Model S. This is very impressive for Tesla which was just a really small company a few years ago. While the new Model 3 has been showcased to the general public and despite the fact more than 200,000 people already paid the deposit for one, the car will only be released some time at the end of 2017 and when the deliveries will start the waiting line is expected to be around 6 to 12 months which is a lot more than for any other car at this price.
