January 9th, 2016 will be remembered for a long period of time. It was a historic day for a car industry since Ford announced two new vehicles – a new model of 2020 Ford Bronco and 2018 Ford Ranger. Audience and journalists gathered at the Joe Louis Arena at the press conference when Joe Hinrichs confirmed speculations that have been circulating the Web for a while. “We’ve heard our customers loud and clear.”, he said and they truly lend an ear to every customer. He stated that this vehicle would be incredibly powerful but still fun to drive. Mr. Hinrichs also added new Ranger targets all those who are looking for a functional, maneuverable and affordable pickup.

FORD RANGER HISTORY
This nameplate was used on three different model. The name debuted in 1965 when Edsel Ranger was introduced. The car had a moderate success and the production was discontinued after 16 years. A year later a compact pickup truck came to the market using the same nameplate. It was first sold in North and South America, and it gradually spread all over the world. The last model was manufactured in 2011 and it was substituted with EcoBoost model of the F150. However, customers were not entirely satisfied with the successor and thankfully Ford listened to them.
TWEETS AND SPECULATIONS
Although this news is breathtaking we can’t say the announcement of these vehicles was a surprise. At the time of the first debate between Mr. Trump and Mrs. Clinton Ford tweeted they are moving some plants to Mexico, but Americans shouldn’t be worried because two new vehicles are coming to the market. This statement instantly sparked speculations among on the forums. Most of the people saw new Bronco and Ranger as these two new cars and they were right. We were also secretly hoping new model of Ranger would come out and we’re happy our hopes have come true. Unlike some other models in the Ford lineup, the new Ranger 2018 will be produced in the US, at the Michigan Assembly.
Ford has a lack of mid-size pickups and this was one more reason to bring 2018 Ford Ranger back. Many were afraid they are cannibalizing their own problems. since the F150 targets pretty much the same market. However, their answer was it better to create competition by themselves than to wait for some rivals to introduce additional models.
2018 FORD RANGER RELEASE DATE
Unfortunately, information about the 2018 Ford Ranger is still scarce and there are only a few details presented at the press conference. One thing is sure, though – we still need to wait some time before we see it on the streets. According to Mr. Hinrichs, this model will be produced in 2018 while it will be sold as the 2019 Ford Ranger model while its buddy will come one, or even two years after it. That means we need to hold our horses for some time and be waiting for more information.
DESIGN AND PRICE OF FORD RANGER 2018
They were pretty scarce with the information regarding the design and powertrain of the Ford Ranger 2018. However, we believe we can make some estimations. It is likely that the 2018 Ranger model will share a platform with the current international truck. This means the chassis will not be made of high-strength steel and it will be similar to the Ford F150. Many hope this won’t come true and new 2018 Ford Ranger will have distinctive chassis this time. There is a high possibility it will share many features with Colorado and Silverado, especially when it comes to the exterior. Ford didn’t mention anything about the engine lineup so we must be patient for some time.
As Mr. Hinrichs said this pickup will be affordable thus don’t expect price above $25,000. This is, of course, the base price while top trims will cost several thousand dollars more.
